Big 5 Challenge
6 days

Join us on a 6 day "Big 5 Challenge". The Big 5 refers to 5 iconic African animals that were historically considered the most difficult and dangerous to hunt on foot. In this 6 day itinerary you will try to spot them all but obviously Genes Adventures can't give you any guarantee.

In your quest to encounter lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and Cape buffalo, your journey will lead you through 3 of the northern circuit's national parks: Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and the renowned Ngorongoro Crater.

This relatively compact park is known for its abundant flamingos and the fascinating sight of tree-climbing lions. At the end of the afternoon you will leave the park and head to the nearby village of Karatu for an overnight stay.

Day 3
Serengeti National Park

You'll have an early breakfast, preparing for a day filled with exploration and adventure! Your day kicks off with a scenic drive toward the Serengeti. En route, you'll traverse the mist-covered rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering opportunities to spot cape buffalo, baboons, and perhaps even elephants and leopards concealed in the thick undergrowth. The journey to the Serengeti park gates takes nearly four hours.  Your accommodation will be in a tented

camp, providing you with a distinctive "Out of Africa" experience.(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4
Big 4 Challenge

Today you will try to spot 4 of the "Big 5", because you will look for elephants, a leopard, buffalos and lions. Of course you will also encounter plenty of other animals. We will save the rhino for another time as it does not reside in Serengeti National Park. At the end of the day you return to your tented camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up very early with a packed breakfast and leave Serengeti National Park behind. Before lunch your will descend via the steep slopes into the Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the "Garden of Eden." With luck on our side, you may finish your challenge and even encounter one of the most elusive members of the Big 5: the endangered black rhino! Leave the Crater at the end of the afternoon and overnight and dinner at your lodge in Karatu.
