Genes Nolasco Shirima

Genes Nolasco Shirima, aged 47, embarked on his hiking journey as a porter immediately after completing primary school in 1993, at the age of 16.

 

By 2000, he had transitioned into a seasoned guide, honing his skills through various courses on high altitude sickness, advanced wilderness first aid, and even undertaking a course in Cape Town.

Genes is a proud husband and father of three children. His hobbies include watching football, listening to music, snorkeling, and swimming, but hiking holds a special place in his heart — it's not just an activity, but a defining aspect of his identity.

 

Genes excels in medical assistance, counseling, and sharing his extensive knowledge of Kilimanjaro's geology, flora, and fauna.
