Lemosho Route

This route is renowned for its scenic beauty and relatively low traffic, making it a favorite among experienced climbers. Lemosho offers a longer ascent, allowing for better acclimatization and higher success rates.

At Genes Adventures, we only present the Lemosho Route in the 8-day variant, which includes 1 extra day to get used to the high altitude.
Day 1
After breakfast, depart for the Londorosi gate at West Kilimanjaro. While your guide secures climbing permits, enjoy a coffee or tea. Proceed along the 4x4 track to the starting point of the Lemosho Route. You'll have a light lunch before beginning the ascent through the lush rainforest, encountering rich flora and fauna unique to this less-traveled route.Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp - 2,780 meters (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2
Start the day with breakfast at the camp before continuing out of the forest and onto open moorland. Today's trek lasts around 6-7 hours with breaks, offering views of the Shira Caldera and Kibo. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route to Shira Camp 1.

Day 3
Witness the landscape change as you walk across former lava flows, passing towering Senecios on your way to Shira Camp 2. Enjoy views of Kibo summit in the evening.

Day 4
Begin the day with breakfast before a gradual climb through low Alpine bush. Marvel at birdlife as you ascend to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, then descend to Baranco Camp for the night, ideal for acclimatization.

Day 5
Embark on the climb up the Baranco Wall, followed by a relaxing lunch at Karanga Camp. Explore the surroundings or rest.

Day 6
Trek around the south side of the mountain through the Alpine desert to Barafu Camp. Relax and prepare for the final ascent.
Overnight at Barafu Camp - 4,600 meters (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7
Gear up for the ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Capture the sunrise before descending to Barafu Camp for breakfast. Continue down to Millennium Camp or Mweka Camp, depending on the descent pace.

Day 8
Descend through the forest, enjoying birdwatching and scenic viewpoints. Celebrate at the gate with a champagne brunch before transferring to your hotel for well-deserved relaxation and showers.
